The guy who is “already” having trouble gaining. The guy who sweats for every fraction of an inch, and lies awake all night wondering if it’s even worthwhile.

Listen. A few guys can train half asleep and still make gains. But, they’re different from us hard gainers. We can call them easy gainers, or just plain lazy if it makes you feel any better. You can envy them if you like. But don’t ever make the mistake of trying to train like them. You will “kill” your gains for sure.

Very, very, very few guys can workout the way they do and make serious muscle gains. Many of them use “isolation” exercises, and perform multiple sets, in a low intensity fashion. Big mistake if you or I were to do the same thing. Some of these guys end up being professional bodybuilders simply because of their genetic advantages.

So remember, If you can make gains easily (if you are an easy gainer), then you’re wasting your time reading this. You don’t need any help. But, if you’re NOT an easy gainer (if you’re a hard luck case like the rest of us), then don’t get confused or misled. You can’t train like an easy gainer, or his steroid using friends. 2. Training for too long thinking it will make you gain faster and get better results.

One of the most important factors is the amount of time you spend working out. You don’t need to spend very long at it. If you’re trying to gain muscle fast you’re way better off doing too little than too much. Three hour workouts are fine for a drug-enhanced professional bodybuilder with nothing else to do – but they’re suicide for any guy trying to build up fast.

Let’s be honest about it. Anybody who works for a living and spends three hours a day at the local gym is making a social outcast of himself. Keep that up and the next sound you hear will be your girlfriend laughing as she runs off with the pool man. Just kidding. But you get the idea… Right?

You can gain all the muscle you want and still lead a normal life. Gaining muscle is a building process. Don’t tear it all back down again. You only have so much energy. If you exceed it you won’t build up. You might even lose muscle. So if you can’t build muscle fast, you’re doing something wrong. You’re probably over-working and don’t even know it.

Most guys spend too long at it. They do way too much. They’d look better if they did less. The extra time is largely wasted. If you’re trying to gain muscle it can even be detrimental. 3. Wasting your money on bogus supplements and “muscle gain” pills.

Listen to me when I tell you that, about 95% of supplements are a complete waste of your hard earned money. The fact is, I’ve learned over the years through my own trial and error experience, that they are really just selling you the dream that their pill will be some “magical” answer that will end your muscle building struggles. In reality, most supplements do nothing at all to help you build muscle if you’re a hard gainer.

Don’t get me wrong… I’m not totally against all supplements, but like I said, about 95% of the bodybuilding supplements you see advertised online and in the muscle magazines are complete scams. Have you been doing the same exercises, same weights, same sets, same reps month after month, year after year? You see, you load up on fatigue “poisons” during the day. Look we all do. Whether it’s your job, your workouts, or any other number of other stresses… we all have to put in a lot of energy to get through the typical day.

These fatigue “poisons” are carried away by the blood while you sleep. The blood packs oxygen and nourishment into the tissues, and cleans and rebuilds them. But if you don’t get rid of all these fatigue poisons with enough quality sleep, you eventually run out of energy.

It’s a double-edged sword. You can very easily end up where you don’t have the energy to train properly, so you don’t really do your workouts justice. You just can’t seem to workout enough to get decent muscle gains. After a while, you can’t workout at all.

And even if you did workout hard enough, you still wouldn’t make gains. You don’t build up during your workouts, you build up while you are resting… while you are sleeping. That’s one of the big reasons why most guys don’t get the muscle gains they want. You need to get lots of rest and sleep.
